Democratic Republic of Congo

A School,

A Safe Haven,

A Spark for the Future

In 2010, Elder Jonathan Weaver spent one day in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo—and left forever changed. That visit planted a seed that grew into medical missions, education partnerships, and a promise: to stand with communities rebuilding their future.

By 2015, the work had grown so impactful that government officials asked: Could we build something permanent for the children?

Enter the Weaver International School. What started with 86 students is now a thriving school of over 1,000 children—many orphans, refugees, or survivors of unimaginable hardship.

Here, children aren’t just learning—they’re rediscovering dignity, confidence, and joy.

Next on our list:

• Grow a school garden and build a dining hall where children can gather

• Raise teacher pay to honor their dedication

• Expand access to computers—bridging the digital divide

• Purchase 8 school buses so no child has to walk miles just to learn

When you give, you build more than classrooms. You build futures, brick by brick, heart by heart.

Your support fuels their tomorrow:

  • $100 pays a teacher’s monthly salary—keeping a steady hand and kind heart in the classroom.

  • School Supplies & Meals: Because hungry children can’t learn, and empty backpacks don’t hold dreams

  • Girls’ Empowerment: Through partnerships with Ugandan manufacturers, we’ve equipped girls with reusable hygiene products—cutting school absenteeism from half the year to nearly zero. Graduation rates soared; child marriage rates dropped.

  • Youth Clubs & Sports: Soccer championships, Girls & Boys Clubs, and safe spaces where young people find joy and belonging.

  • New Facilities: A new building opens in September 2025—housing classrooms, a computer lab, and future gardens, thanks to donors like Ulysese Jefferson.
